I started getting more tired and cranky in June 2011. Then my mom took me to the doctor and they said I have diabetes. Which meant my pancreas stopped working. I had type one diabetes. I have to take an insulin shot often, at least five times a day. And I had to prick my finger to see my BG (how high or low my blood sugar is). I was very scared at first, but I got over it. And instead of a shot now I use a pump which is a device that gives me insulin every time I eat. When I got diabetes, it helped me get better at math because you have to add and subtract.
You are because all those shots.
ReplyDeleteLouis meant "you are strong because all those shots".
DeleteJosey, what a great way of explaining diabetes so everyone can understand. I remember when I would first visit and you would get shots. I imagined you would be scared or complain about it. You were so brave, acted like it was no big deal and handled a shot better than most adults do. I am so happy you have your pump like gramby and uncle Chad. I'm sending a squeezy hug right your way!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun this summer!!
Jos- You are one tough cookie and an even cuter one!! I think you are so brave and writing about your diabetes is going to help lots of people understand more about diabetes! Do you have to eat special kinds of food? What is your favorite thing to eat? What is your favorite thing to do? I miss you! I just got married and your mom was in the wedding and looked SO BEAUTIFUL!!! What are you doing ths summer? I love and miss you!

Josey- wow- I feel like I learned a lot about diabetes from your blog post! My grandma had diabetes, but I never really understood what that meant for her (she died before I was born). I think it's great that you wrote about that part of your life, I'm sure many kids would find it helpful and informative. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI always think of my granddaughter Josey as being brave. And you are, but you are also a loving girl who is willing to tell others about diabetes so you could help others understand. You are fun to be around and God will bless your life because you care. Thanks Josey
